Tree work
Tree trimming and pruning in Brawley and the Imperial Valley
Shaping, thinning, and taking out the dead or low branches, so your trees stay healthy and stop crowding the roof, the fence, and the sidewalk. Everything I cut leaves with me.
- Shaping and thinning
- All debris hauled away
- Small removals included
What I do, and what I do not
Being straight about the limits up front saves us both a wasted visit.
Shaping and thinning
Opening a canopy up so wind moves through it instead of pushing against it, and keeping the shape you actually want.
Dead and low branch removal
The branches over your roof, across the driveway, or hanging into the walkway.
Clearance from structures
Cutting back off the roof, the fence line, the power drop, and the neighbour’s side.
Small tree removal
Whole removal of smaller trees, stump left at grade unless you want it dealt with separately.
All debris hauled away
Branches and cuttings go with me the same day. Nothing left stacked by the kerb.
Not large or hazardous removals
A big mature tree, anything into power lines, or anything needing a crane is a job for a certified arborist with the right insurance. I will say so and I will not take it on.
When to cut what, in this climate
Timing matters more here than most places, because our summer will punish a tree you opened up at the wrong moment.
Late winter, before growth starts
Most shade and deciduous trees
The tree is dormant, the structure is visible with the leaves off, and it heals into the growing season rather than into 110 degree heat.
Avoid heavy cuts in high summer
Anything with a thin or pale bark
Strip a canopy back hard in July and you expose bark that has never seen direct sun. Sun scald here is real and it does not grow back.
Any time it is a safety problem
Dead, cracked, or hanging limbs
A dead limb over a driveway does not wait for the right season. That gets cut when you notice it.
If what you want done is better held until winter, I will tell you that rather than take the job now and have you lose the tree.

What it costs
Priced on the number of trees, how big they are, how much comes off, and how much there is to haul. Written price before I start.
Refer a friend or neighbour who books a job and your next service is 5% off. That is the only discount I run, so the price you are quoted is already my best one.

Questions about tree trimming and pruning
When is the best time of year to trim my trees?
Late winter for most shade trees, while they are dormant and before the growing season starts. Dead or dangerous limbs are the exception and should come off whenever you spot them.
Do you remove whole trees?
Small ones, yes. Large mature trees, anything near power lines, and anything that needs a crane I do not take on. That is work for a certified arborist carrying the right insurance, and I will tell you so rather than attempt it.
Do you take the branches away?
Yes, the same day. Everything I cut leaves with me. You are not left with a pile by the kerb.
Can you cut my tree right back?
I can, but on most species here I would talk you out of it. Topping a tree in this heat exposes bark that has never had direct sun on it and often kills the limb. I would rather thin it properly.
Do you trim palms?
Yes. Palms are their own job with their own timing, so mention it when you call and I will tell you when it is best done.
